A client’s vessel was detained in an Egyptian port, exposing the owner to mounting costs the longer the ship stayed idle.

On 14 December 2014, the fishing vessel Badr Al-Islam sank after colliding with a Kuwaiti-flagged vessel near Jabal El-Zeit in the Red Sea, killing 28 fishermen and injuring 13 others. The victims’ families needed representation to pursue wrongful-death and injury claims.
We assembled a team to represent the affected families pro bono, pursuing compensation claims arising from the deaths and injuries on their behalf.

Following the Ever Given grounding, claims were brought alleging that ballast water and sediments discharged during the incident affected the aquatic environment and local fisheries.

In September 2006, an oil tanker incident in the Suez Canal caused a major spill stretching from Kabrit to Shindora, damaging free fishing grounds and fish farms relied on by the local cooperative.
We represented the Shindora Fish Farming Cooperative in pursuing compensation, coordinating with the General Authority for Fish Wealth Development.
